Linseed Oils

(2 Items)

Raw linseed oil is a pure oil that is derived from the seeds of the flax plant. But why are they so widely used when working with wood?

Linseed oil is one of the most useful natural oils for preserving wood and concrete. It is also an ingredient in paints and varnishes.

When it comes to wood treatment and preservation, linseed oils deeply penetrate the wood's fibres, helping to preserve and protect the wood from moisture damage and cracking.

For this reason, it's especially beneficial for rejuvenating and nourishing ageing woodwork and timber, perfect for use on cricket bats and oak beams. Linseed oils don’t contain any synthetic chemicals, so you’re left with a slightly glossy and warm finish for a natural look (especially boiled linseed oil).

Our linseed oils at Beesley and Fildes are suitable for both indoor and outdoor use, making them ideal for garden furniture and indoor home improvements. When applied to concrete, terracotta, or stone, the oil helps to reduce water absorption and prevent dusting, keeping your surfaces in great condition for longer.

Linseed oils can also be used as a binding agent for oil-based paints, providing breathability and durability, especially for timber-framed traditional and heritage building restorations.
