Planning permission and building regulations

Before you start any construction work or make specific changes to a building, you will first need to check if you need approval for these works to take place.

You can use the Competent Person Scheme to find a registered tradesperson who can get approval for you. Planning permission is different to building regulations and, depending on what work you plan to carry out, you may need both.
