No advance booking is required for standard collections. Place your order at the Widnes branch and the team will give you the collection details for your batch.

1. Place your order
Tell the team which material and quantity you need.

2. Get your barcode
You’ll receive the details needed to collect your batch, including the barcode used at the fibo Collect terminal.

3. Position your vehicle or tub
Move a suitable vehicle, trailer or mortar tub into position beneath the conveyor.

4. Scan and collect
Scan the barcode, follow the on-screen instructions and collect your freshly mixed material.

For small loads under 0.8m³, the mixing and pouring process can be completed in under five minutes. Always check that your vehicle or container has enough load capacity before collection.

Concrete

Freshly batched concrete for small-load landscaping and groundwork jobs, without the need to mix on site.

Typical applications include fence post holes, kerb bedding, trench fill, shed and bin store bases, light foundations, garden wall footings, patios, paths, steps, ramps and domestic driveways.

The correct strength and specification will depend on the job, loading and site conditions, so always confirm the required mix before ordering.

Mortar

Ready-mixed mortar gives you a consistent, workable mix without handling bags, measuring materials or mixing on site.

It is suitable for typical landscaping brickwork such as garden walls, planters, piers, raised beds and edging details. The guide uses Mortar 6:1 for general above-ground landscaping brickwork and bases its brickwork calculations on standard UK bricks with nominal 10mm joints.

Mortar usage will vary depending on joint thickness, brick type, workmanship and wastage, so quantities should always be treated as a guide.

Screed

Freshly batched screed is available to collect in small quantities, giving you a consistent mix without the time and mess of mixing materials on site.

Which concrete or Slabmix might suit the job?

• Blinding and low-strength non-structural work: C6/8, C8/10 or ST1, depending on the specification.
• Shed bases, garden wall foundations and general ground foundations: C20/25 is listed for these types of domestic and light commercial jobs.
• Paving and reinforced hardstandings: C25/30 is listed for paving and reinforced hardstandings.
• Driveways, garage floor slabs, retaining walls and reinforced house foundations: C28/35 is listed for these applications.
• Higher-strength agricultural, industrial or structural work: C32/40, C35/45 and C40/50 are available where the project specification calls for higher strength.
• Kerbs: Kerb Mix C20/25 is available, with ST1 also listed for kerb bedding.

Which mortar or screed might suit the job?

• General brickwork and garden walls: M4 / 6:1 mortar.
• External masonry and blockwork: M6 / 4:1 mortar.
• High-strength structural masonry: M12 / 3:1 mortar where specified.
• Paving: Slabmix 4:1 is available in sharp + soft sand and sharp-sand-only versions, plus Mortar for Flags.
• Screed: 4:1 and 6:1 screed mixes are available for floor finishing and general paving/landscaping applications.

How much do I need?

Concrete volume: measure the length, width and depth of the area in metres, then multiply them together.

Length × width × depth = volume in m³

Example: a 4m × 3m base at 100mm (0.1m) deep is 4 × 3 × 0.1 = 1.2m³.

Mortar coverage: fibo’s Widnes mortar guidance says a 0.25m³ tub lays approximately 385 facing bricks or 379 standard blocks using 10mm joints. A 0.33m³ tub lays approximately 508 facing bricks or 500 standard blocks.

Actual quantities vary with joint size, bed depth, cuts, waste, site levels and workmanship, so check your measurements before ordering.

What is the minimum collection?
Collections start from 0.25m³.

Do I need to book?
No advance booking is required for standard collection orders. Visit the Widnes branch, place your order and collect during opening hours.

How quickly is it mixed?
A 0.25m³ machine cycle is around four minutes. Beesley & Fildes also states that small loads under 0.8m³ can be mixed and poured in under five minutes. Allow additional time for ordering, positioning and leaving the yard.

What can I collect into?
Use a suitable vehicle, trailer or mortar tub with enough load capacity. Mortar tubs are available to purchase at the branch.

Can I choose 10mm or 20mm aggregate?
Most C-class concrete mixes at Widnes are listed with 10mm or 20mm aggregate options. Choose the aggregate required by the job specification.

Can I collect on Saturday?
Yes. Widnes is open Monday to Friday 7:30am–5:00pm and Saturday 8:00am–12:00pm. Sunday is closed.
